The Director of Competitions, Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Bola Oyeyode, says the present condition of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium is beneath standard for Africa Football Confederation competitions.

Oyeyode, who made the attestation on Thursday in Enugu while talking with newsmen, said the regrettable state of facilities at the stadium was nothing to write home about.

"With the present state of the stadium, I question if CAF will consider the stadium as a scene for its matches,'' he said.

He encouraged the Enugu State Government to begin an upgrade of the facilities to guarantee the stadium would be endorsed when CAF delegates come for inspection.

"The structure needs to wear a new look, the rooms are untidy for human use and similarly heaps of plumbing work should be done,'' he said.

Oyeyode said that there were some facilities that needed to be provided, particularly for the match officials.

"The stadium needs Wifi network coverage for international observers and the media for proper coverage of matches.

"Right now, the stadium remains at 40 percent for CAF endorsement since we can't scarifies individuals' wellbeing, service and solace on the alter of mediocrity,'' he said.

He said the pitch was an artificial one was still great yet required upkeep, including that the dressing room, the toilets and the stadium seats should have been cleaned.
